MARPOL study for AOR

MARPOL study for AOR

The MARPOL regulations undergo constant change to make ships safer and to create less pollution. The aim is to reduce the risk of oil spills at sea.

The Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) of the Royal Netherlands Navy requested Nevesbu to study possibilities for modifying the Auxiliary Oil Replenishing ship Hr. Ms. Amsterdam to ensure its compliance with the new regulations. Nevesbu examined four alternatives and analysed their effects on cargo capacity, stability and speed. In consultation with DMO, one of the alternatives was selected and worked out in more detail. A cost-and-time estimate was produced in cooperation with Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding.
