January 2010 - The Malaysian government decided in 2009 to refit the 25-year-old corvettes KD Kasturi and KD Lekir in order to extend their service life by 15 years
Boustead Naval Shipyard, the Malaysian shipyard at Lumut that will perform the work, contracted Nevesbu in November 2009 to act as platform system integrator for the Service Life Extension Programme (SLEP).The weapons systems and platform systems of both vessels will be modernised and upgraded.
